3D models for your Shopify store.

Shopify can show a 3D model on any product page and let shoppers place it in their own room, with nothing to install. The store only needs the model. Alchemesh Studio makes it, from your photos, dimensions or CAD, ready to upload.

You upload the GLB we deliver to the product's media, the same way you add a photo. Shopify prepares it for iPhone and Android, and a theme that supports 3D shows it with a 3D view and a View in your space button.

Why stores add 3D models

A photo shows one angle at one size. A 3D model lets a shopper turn the product around, look underneath it and, on a phone, see it at its real size next to their own sofa, desk or wrist. Most of the questions that lead to a return are answered before the order.

Shopify published a case study in which a dog-crate maker added 3D and AR to its product pages and reported 40% more completed orders and 5% fewer returns, because buyers could check the crate against their dog first. Results depend on the product and the store, but the reason holds for anything where size, fit or finish matters.

What Shopify needs, and what we deliver

Shopify accepts GLB and USDZ files up to 500 MB and converts each upload so both versions exist. Accepting a file is not the same as a good experience: a shopper on mobile data waits for every megabyte, and AR shows the product at whatever size the file says.

RequirementWhat you receive
FormatOne GLB per product or colourway. Shopify makes the iPhone version from it; we can supply USDZ as well where you need it elsewhere.
Real-world scaleModelled in real units and checked against your dimensions, so View in your space shows the true size.
File sizeTextures compressed for phones, then checked by eye. On our own published models, compressing every texture made files 58 to 75 percent smaller; the most cautious setting, which leaves the surface-detail maps untouched, still saved 23 to 33 percent.
MaterialsPBR materials that keep fabric, wood, metal and glass looking right under Shopify's viewer lighting.
PlacementThe base of the product sits on the floor or table, and the front faces the shopper when the viewer opens.
NamingFiles named to your products and SKUs, so each one goes on the right listing.

Products we model for Shopify

Each kind of product asks something different of the model. These are the ones store owners bring to us most.

ProductWhat matters most
Furniture and home decorExact dimensions for AR placement, fabric and wood grain, and every colourway or finish you sell.
Apparel: shirts, hoodies, jacketsFabric, print and fit shown on an invisible form or laid flat, with each colourway as its own model. Shopify's viewer shows the garment; it does not try it on a person.
Shoes and bagsStitching, hardware and material changes up close, since shoppers zoom in on details.
Jewelry and watchesMetal and stone that read correctly at close range, at true size for the wrist or finger.
Eyewear and headwearFrame proportions and lens tint. Try-on on a face goes beyond Shopify; see the section below.
Electronics and packaged goodsSharp labels, logos and ports, with packaging modelled as part of the product where it sells it.

Colourways and variants, without paying twice

A new colour is not a new model. Where only the finish changes, we build the shape once and produce a version for each colourway, which costs far less than modelling every variant from scratch. A different shape, size or construction is a separate model.

Send your variant list with the brief, so we can tell you which products share a model and quote accordingly.

When you want more than Shopify's viewer

Shopify's built-in viewer covers 3D and placing a product in a room. Some products need more, and the Alchemesh AR platform adds it to your product page with an embed.

  • Virtual try-on for glasses and headwear on the face, and rings and watches on the hand
  • A configurator: shoppers choose colours, parts or engraved text, and their choice goes into your Shopify cart
  • Views and AR opens per product, beyond what Shopify reports
  • QR codes for packaging, catalogues and in-store displays

What to send us

A good brief makes the first model right the first time. If you only have some of these, send what you have and we will tell you what is missing.

  • Photos from every side, plus close-ups of seams, labels and hardware
  • Real dimensions, with units
  • Material and colour references, ideally the product itself in good light
  • Your list of products and variants, with SKUs if you use them
  • Your Shopify theme name, so we can confirm it shows 3D models
  • CAD or existing 3D files, if you have them

Project questions

Do I need an Alchemesh AR subscription?

No. Shopify shows 3D models and AR on its own, so the model is all most stores need. The platform is optional, for try-on, configurators, analytics or QR codes.

Will it work with my Shopify theme?

Most current themes, including Shopify's own free themes, show 3D models in the product gallery. Some older or heavily customised themes need an update first. Tell us your theme name and we will check before you order.

How do I add the model to my product?

In your Shopify admin, open the product and add the GLB file in the Media section, the same way you add a photo. Shopify processes it and shows it alongside your images.

Can shoppers try clothes on with it?

Not with a 3D model on Shopify. Shoppers can turn a garment around and zoom into the fabric, but trying clothing on a person is a different technology. Glasses, headwear, rings and watches can be tried on through the Alchemesh AR platform.

Can you work from my existing CAD or 3D files?

Yes. Manufacturing CAD is usually far too heavy for a web page, so we convert, simplify and texture it into a model a phone can open quickly.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the product's complexity, the number of products and colourways, and the deadline. Send your list and we will quote, often starting with one product so you can see the result in your store first.
